How is India trapping China?

India’s diamond strategy to counter china’s strings of pearls

China has build so many hurdles to surround India and get full dominance over Indian Ocean region. Before 2013 India and china relations were not too much bitter as today have . Trouble starts as early as 2013 when China started to expand his Belt and Road Initiative to create a trade route from China to all over the world. China has started massive construction projects in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka and Maldives. The motive behind the belt and road project is to start ancient Silk Route of China to almost over the world to become a economic superpower. China has started his project in PoK which is illegal occupied by Pakistan, India has started protest against china’s move in PoK until China did not took any retreat action over there. So that India has fully involved to counter China project . 

Once our foreign minister Mr. S. Jaishankar said that if you asked me to the relationship between India and China today, my answer to you “no it’s not”. We have not good relations to China now.

Day by day China is growing its military power and become a much stronger military power not only in the Asia but also over the world.

India has also stepped up by participation in the ‘QUAD’ which is the group of four major country US , Japan,Australia and India. QUAD will work together to safe and secure Indian Ocean region and to counter China in the Indian ocean. 

Once Alfred Thayer said “Whoever conquers the Indian Ocean , will dominate the whole Asia”.

China’s strings of pearls strategy 

 

China started Belt and road initiative to conquer the world trade. China strategically used Pakistan,Sri Lanka, Djibouti and Myanmar economic weak countries to surround India.

Secondly china spend billions of dollars to establish oil refineries, railways lines, high speed Internet cable and gas pipe lines to build alternate trade route around India.

Lastly China is building extremely strategically railways line from London to China and another railway line from China to Iran which is passing through Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tehran. This is how China is building its own trade route to become economic superpower. In this process china intense to surround rival like India and eventually gave military and economic advantages over the United States.

China is doing so many thing then Indian is not insane to be quiet and see to grow China and surround India. Look at the strategic importance of Indian Ocean region. 

Indian Ocean region is  consists of 28 countries and across the three continents and twenty one countries are part of Indian Ocean rim Association like Australia,Kenya,South Africa Iran and so on. This region covers 35 % of populations of all over the world. Indian Ocean connects the international economy in the North Atlantic to the Asia Pacific region and it is the major sea route that connects the Middle East Africa to East Asia to both Europe and America. It hold 80% of entire world maritime oil trade which flows through the 3 

narrow passage of Indian Ocean.

These points are called as the choke point. Here question is that why these chokes points are so important? If you choke these choke point , major oil trade will be down and stand still because 80% oil trade of world maritime flows through these choke point.

Strait of Harmuz is located between Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, strait of Malacca is between Malay Peninsula and Indonesia island of Sumatra and Strait of BAB EL Mandeb comes between Yaman , Djibouti and Horn of Africa.

Apart from these three choke point Indian Ocean has four more point which are also so much important. These are Mozambique Channel, Suez Canal , Sunda strait and Lambok strait.

China has entered in all four choke point in a very clever manner.  China debtrapped economic weak countries and took their land , port and military base on lease and build up with its own purpose. China build Gwadar port f Pakistan and take on lease for forty year and also made a railway line China to Iran to dominate the Strait of Hormuz.

China debtrapped Djibouti and establish naval base capitalise Strait of BAB EL Mandeb because Djibouti is very close to the strait. For the dominance over the Malacca strait China has stepped towards the good relationship hand to Indonesia for building their infrastructure projects.

If you remember that china had very closely relations with the Mozambique government and China established Dar er Salaam port in Tanzania.

Some geopolitics analysts said that Indian Ocean is ready to explore in view of natural gas , world reserve. As per data 27.9% of natural gas reserve in the Indian ocean itself.

India’s move against China to counter strings of pearls 

Before 2013 India looked over Pakistan the biggest rival but after the aggressive steps of China agains India , India has changed the dimensions over Pakistan and China and also prepared itself for two frontier war. India is doing its move silently and in a stealth mode . India’s counter attack over the mission of China to surround India is called as “Necklace of Diamonds”

 

First let start the counter move of India to tackle Djibouti and Gwadar port, India has entered in the Oman and made a strategically port of Duqm where India’s crude oil imports flows from Persian gulf. This place strategically located on the south eastern sea board of Oman and we 

can overlooking both the Arabian sea and Indian ocean. India has a healthy relations between Oman government and get military access to the port of Duqm.

India has signed the memorandum with the government of Seychelles to build infrastructure and build and development of Assumptions Island which has a core interest of India because for counter China Mozambique Channel we should got access in the Seychelles but at present people of Seychelles are protesting over the India’s stance so that this project is in standby and stopped for clearance of Seychelles government.

India have Changi Naval Base in the Singapore which comes when PM Narendra Modi signed an agreement to grant access of military in the Changi Naval Base and also followed by the Sabang

 Port of Indonesia, here also India can use this port as a military purpose as per requirements.

Sabang port is located at the entrance of Malacca strait where China used the route most . So we have the counter of Malacca strait.  China 70% of oil supply and 60% of trade passes through this strait. Andaman and Nicobar island is also a benefit for India.

India has Indonesia-Vietnam Diamond with great relationships with Vietnam. We have signed Comprehensive Partnership with Vietnamese government. Indian and Vietnam are also a good defence partner , recently we have export Brahmos missile to Vietnam.

Japan location plays a crucial and important role to India because Japan is very closely to the main land Of China and we can use the Japan military base as per requirements according memorandum which we have signed to Japan and Japan also use Indian military bases reciprocally.

Mongolia which is over the China , we have improved our relations to Mongolia , PM Narendra Modi is the first prime minister to visit Mongolia and gave them 1 billion dollar to developing the air corridor.

Iran’s Chahbhar port which is developed  by the India has good point for us because Iran is the part of china’s belt and road initiative. 

If we connects all point which have India made to counter China moves, it looks like Necklace of Diamond.

Conclusion:

In Asia continent there are two major countries on the basis of land , economy that is China and India. Both have their core interest and china believe in expansion so that it can be get full dominance over the area. Indo pacific region is very important to China and he wants full secure there so that China surround India but India pulled a master stroke over the strings of pearls theory of China. Now China has encircled by its own move. Here Indian diplomacy and foreign policy is on time high. 

If both countries make an agreement on the border then both countries can explore each other far more than European countries and India and China can dominate the world .
